Large vintage white enamel basins, often called Kuvèt Blan or Blanc Emaye, are staple ritual objects in Haitian Vodou used for spiritual baths (lave tèt), offerings, and various ceremonies.
Ritual Significance
- Purity and Clarity: The white color symbolizes purity and is frequently associated with "cool" or benevolent spirits like Damballah and Ayida Wedo.
- Ceremonial Use: These basins are used to hold sacred water, herbs, and perfumes for spiritual cleansing and meditation. Large versions, typically 13 to 14 inches across, are standard for communally significant rituals.
